When I was seven years old, I walked into my dad’s study at home one day and told him I wanted to follow Jesus. I don’t remember why. It might have been fear of hell, it might have been a desire to spend eternity with my family, or it might have been guilt. I sat on his knee and had a conversation also now long forgotten. Then we pulled out my illustrated NIV children’s Bible, opened up to a blank page at the beginning, and wrote a profession of faith. My childish hand wrote about my need for a savior and how I believed Jesus was my only hope and now my life would be His forever.
From that day forward I have considered myself a Christian. I know I am a sinner. That much is obvious to anyone who knows me. I believe God is holy, so much so that He cannot abide sin in His presence. I believe I cannot do a single thing to purify myself enough to gain access to God. I believe that “God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” And I believe in the perfect Son, Jesus, the only man who ever lived a life of perfection and thus was able to be the flawless sacrifice and bear God’s punishment for my sin and those of everyone else who believes. I believe Jesus rose from the dead and thus has shown Himself to be the conquering King who will one day return to “wipe away every tear” and reside in a newly created earth where “neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore.”

Man, the pinnacle of God’s creation they say. Charged with the responsibility to dominate and subdue a world that is now fallen. Now he devotes all of his mental faculties and creative abilities to engineer clever crafts that would make the earth more habitable and ultimately continue his reign. Interesting!
One thing I’ve observed with most, if not all of man’s craft is, that it almost always reflect a characteristic of human nature, just in a more mechanical and yes, efficient manner. (The scale at which it carries it out is of little importance in this discourse.) Whether it’s a robotic arm, or a facial recognition camera; a pneumatic drill or a 4X4 off road vehicle, it’s always an enhancement of our abilities. We can see that more directly in the field called Artificial Intelligence. The basic principle of a human creative process — as I’ve heard quite a number of inventors and artists confess — is that we always create from what we know. As a little kid, I always thought motor vehicles looked like people’s faces and side mirrors were the ears and I guess a more vivid description of my somewhat ‘wild’ imagination is portrayed in the Disney animation, Cars. Machines reflect man’s creative abilities.

“O wretched Man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this Death?“- Rom 7:24
Beloved, are you in any hopeless and helpless situation? Have you been abandoned? Are you fed up with life? Friends may abandon you but JESUS will never forsake you. Run to JESUS and you shall have rest.
Standing just two inches before me, I can feel the heat of His body exuding from the remarkable force of power that He is, like a consuming fire. With my eyes dead shut, I have no idea what my environment holds today. It feels like it’s the first day of my life and I’m not quite sure how to handle it as a fully grown adult. This is so new for me. I’m learning how to love, what love is, who love is and why it is that we love. Don’t know if it has anything to do with that warm and fuzzy feelings we get when we think about someone we really care about, like I am feeling right now. It’s like everyone of the billions of cells in my body is desperately itching for His touch. I yearn to hear Him speak. I ache to feel His arms wrapped up around me; to have Him hold my face in His palm like it were the entire world. He inches further, so intimately close to me that the very breath of His nostrils becomes the air that fills my lungs. His body scent fills my senses such that sleep no longer feels soothing and relaxing anymore, awakening to see Him is all I need to be at ease. In the might of His power and the illumination of the Understanding of His love for me, I take in a deep breath of the air He’s exhaled, all my organs come alive. Like the school bell that disengages children from their classrooms into the playing field, filling the once serene learning environment with buzzes of excitement; cackles of [...]
