I honestly thought we had heard it all from boko haram, that their unreasonable demands and beliefs were all in the past, sadly, I was wrong. Talk about selfish desires, I mean as much as I want everyone to become Christians and live happily ever after, I am wise enough to know that blowing up places and reducing the number of people to convince would not do the trick. It is a shame when people believe they can commit numerous atrocities in the name of religion, at first, they closed down schools (well not really but the schools had to close down for safety reasons) and claimed they were against western education which they see as non Islamic but only a fool goes for a heart transplant without a ready heart to replace the one to be removed. Now, they want Nigeria to be a completely Islamic nation, I would think by now they have had enough time to discover what they really want. Another thing that puzzles me is how killing government officials and innocent people will help their cause, are we expected to just hand over? Below is a picture that shows just how serious the problem at Maiduguri (the capital of Borno state) is;

Just in case you have no idea of what I am talking about, well that’s unfortunate; I’ll be nice today and briefly explain what has been going on in the northern states for a while now. Boko Haram, literally meaning that Western or non-Islamic education is a sin, is a Nigerian militant Islamist group that seeks the imposition of Shariah law throughout all 36 states of Nigeria. Yes you saw that right, throughout the 36 states of Nigeria (rolling eyes), talk about being delusional. The group was founded in 2002 at Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state by Ustaz Mohammed Yusuf. In 2004, it moved to Kanamma, Yobe State, where it set up a base called “Afghanistan”, used to attack nearby police outposts, killing police officers. Yusuf is hostile to democracy and the secular education system, vowing that “this war that is yet to start would continue for long” if the political and educational system was not changed. Rumor has it that Yusuf is dead but unfortunately his dreams and aspirations did not die with him.

The funny thing is that Boko Haram opposes not only Western education, but Western culture and modern science as well yet their weapons of warfare closely resemble those of modern science. I smell hypocrisy just around the corner. Since pictures speak louder than words, take a look at this and hope you get the right message;

This used to be the Gamboru Divisional Police Station in Maiduguri, Borno State before Monday night now it is just debris.

I think this picture can speak for itself and this is just the few I could use not nearly enough to show the sufferings and agony of the people that live in that area. Thankfully, the government seem to be taking this seriously as security in that area has beefed up and in a closed door meeting with Borno State Governor Modu Sherrif and President Goodluck Jonathan (wonder why they close the door when the walls have ears…Lol) at Aso Rock, an agreement has most likely been reached to deploy troops over there.

We can only pray that we have seen and heard the last of Boko Haram. Amen.
