Gèlè Tea, the afternoon tea and fashion show that raises awareness of Alzheimer’s through the Gèlè is setting the standards for Gèlè couture and taking gèlè to new heights.
Celebrity designer and style icon Adebayo Jones hosted the Second 2012 Edition of the Gèlè tea (GELEPOQUE) the fashion event that raises awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK through the Gele is raising standards for Gèlè Tea and taking the Gèlè to new heights.
His co host for the event is the lovely presenter Esther Abimbola Alade who whole heartedly gave her support and looked delectably elegant attired in a beautiful fitted shift Ankara and Chantily lace dress and her sagittarius ring encrusted with Swarovski Crystals from the Adebayo Jones Africana Range.
The day started out with a buzz of excitement as the team of stylists, Award Winning designers, Models, Make up artists, Top Gèlè Stylists all set up and prepared for the much awaited second Edition of the Gèlè Tea Backstage.
Gèlèlites enjoyed champagne and music on arrival as they networked before sitting down for an afternoon tea of sandwiches, warm scones, and mouth watering French pastries, tea and coffee, drinks and more Champagne at the Shakespare Suite of the London Bridge Hotel.
Invitees were requested to wear a Gèlè or another form of headwear like hats or fascinators as a mark of respect for the 73 year old Lady who was the source of inspiration for the Gèlè Tea event.
Gèlès were purchased and styled on the day and Ladies were also encouraged to bring their own and have it tied for a donation with all proceeds going to the Alzhiemers UK research fund.
Celebrity guests Included Sinem Onabanjo Editor of FAB Magazine who supported the event with live tweets as the day unfolded, Top Lawyer and activist Ms Jenny Okafor, Presence from The Voice Newspapers.
The GELEPOQUE Champagne event kicked off with Adebayo Jones singing a Gospel song and Esther Alade was on top form entertaining guests as well as being the co auctioneer with Adebayo Jones during the fund raising segment of the event.
The singer/song writer Lánre performed songs from her debut album Pen Voyage Chapter 1 in support of Gèlè Tea. Lanre also composed a song specially titled “Memories” for Gèlè Tea which went down a treat as guests joined her in the chorus of her Gèlè themed anthem song which was about Alzheimers in the black community and most certainly set to become a hit.
Models cat walked and displayed elegance from award winning collections of Kosibah Creations by Designer Yemi Oshunoya; As usual the designer was on top form showcasing a collection of beautiful silk and kente Oke detailed selection as well as an exquisite and fabulously opulent wedding gown worn by Rosemary chilese. There was presence from the Award wining Ijeve Designs who showcased an exquisite collection of evening gowns in an afro centric feel with intricate details and appliqué of Swarovski crystals.
Millinery glamour from Lyze Hats who showcased her newly Unveiled bedazzled collection to everyone’s delight ;; and sophistication from Couturier Clariscia Gill from her collection of beautifully handcrafted couture and ready to wear pieces. A preview of new timeless Classics collection from the “All That Glitters“ range by Adebayo Jones closed the show in breathtaking pieces showcased in dazzling sparkles of sequins, beadings, laces in luxurious fabrics, textures and styling.

Models who supported the event included former beauty Queen Rosemary Chilesi -Ellis, Congolese/Lebanese model Samar Khoury , Russian Model Maria Samoylova, Former UK Top of model of Colour Vicky Tjirimuje, Toyin, Ola- Oluwa Yimika, Estelle, Top model Samyra Templeton.
The designer collections were adorned with amazing hand sculptured and intricate new designs by some of the best renowed Gèlèists of the Industry. They included creations by top Gèlè stylists Juliet Esiri; Lara Extravaganza; Bolanle Okusanya Feyita; and Juliet ‘Onyeka’ Osodi who showcased the Gèlè in breathtaking displays of innovations and new levels artistry in vibrant colours and textures.
International Makeup artist Grace Ibukunoluwa of facequizite created stunning looks for the models from her newly launched Range of Facequizite make up.
Designer Dionne Gooding designed shoe clips from the Gèlè Fabric which were at hand to accessorise the designer collections. Sugarcraft expert Marcia Brown showcased her artisty in her Cake Display and the Gèlè cake by Panari Cakes was indeed spectacular to behold. Artist Tonderai, drew life sketches of the guests in their Gèlè at the event.
Proceeds from raffles and Gèlè styling will go to support the work of Alzheimer’s Research UK. Raffles gifts were donated by Dapri Jewels, London Bridge hotel, Tonderai Artwork, Clarissa Gill, and chocolates from a well renowned chocolatier amongst many.Lyze Bamigbola-Silas of Lyze Hats specially designed a Millinery piece for the auction which went down a treat.
Guest were treated to goody bags of the Packs of fabulous REDBUSH Tea, Mugs as well as handmade chocolates. The event ended on a high note and everyone waiting in anticipation and excitement for GELEPOQUE 2013.
