New York, London and Milan’s Fashion Week have all shown the world various collections that have a similar trait in common; detailed fabrics – bold prints, bold patterns, embroidery, coarse texture, etc. It has people not only observing the style, cut, or fit of outfits and garments, but also the fabrics and its designs.
Not all designers use plain fabrics in creating ingenious designs, but the use of detailed fabrics was fully in force in the Fall/Winter 2011’12 runways shows (this trend was also present in the Summer/Spring 2011 collections of SOME designers; Blumarine, Prada, etc). I noted many designers showcasing outfits with detailed fabrics; designer Emilio Pucci added some floral embroidery to the shoulders of a blazer, Dolce & Gabbana had writings on some of their dresses and other clothing items, Oscar de la Ranta created a suit made out of Damask.
There are some designers that detailed fabrics have always been their ‘thing’; Roberto Cavalli, Burberry, Anna Sui, etc, but now many designers have incorporated their style, and be expecting to see many fashion – noteable individuals rocking this trend.
