Although we are in the midst of the Fall/Winter 2011’12 season, I couldn’t help but notice a particular trend in the Spring/Summer 2011 collections of a lot of designers; big sleeves. Basically, a lot of designers showcased dresses, tops, shirts, jackets and more, that all had big sleeves as a common attribute to the designs. These big sleeves add a ‘couture’ feel to a lot of outfits, making you look more fashionable.
The designers that showcased this trend ranged from Fendi, Yves Saint Laurent, Blumarine and more. The trend is definitely good for summer as a lot of air and breeze can come unto your skin while the sun rays are blocked.
As you can see from some of the photos, some sleeves either had a ‘puffed’ out and stationery look due to the fabrics used or the style of sowing, and some are just loose and flow with the wind. The big sleeves were created in different styles (short sleeved or long sleeved, bog or small, etc) and were designed in various ways which just makes the trend a tad bit more intriguing.
Personally, I prefer the big sleeves that are tightened towards the wrist; making the sleeves covering more pronounced.
