Nikki Laoye Campaigns for the Support of the Education of Internally Displaced Children from Northern Nigeria (@A4LFoundation @NikkiLaoye)

by Yada MagazineMay 20, 2015
Singer/Humanitarian, Nikki Laoye continues on her mission to provide care and support for displaced persons in Northern Nigeria. After her recent visit and assessment of the IDP camp in Kuchingoro Camp via her Angel Relief Fund initiative, Nikki Laoye and her team have decided to channel more support towards the education of the children residing at the camp after the severe disruptions in access to quality education following the Boko Haram insurgency in the North. Ranging from ages 3 – 15 years and a total of 248 in number, the children are presently undergoing primary education classes via the “School Without Walls Initiative, set up by a couple, Mr & Mrs O’David who had initially visited the camp and seen the children roaming idle with no school on the camp. Using their personal funds, The couple recruited teachers and they are presently providing some basic primary education to the children on the camp; but require more financial support to sustain the project. To further support the good work being carried out by the couple,Nikki Laoye is presently reaching out to well meaning individuals and organisations, to help provide a supportive environment of education for these vulnerable children via The Angel Relief Fund, by sponsoring the 248 children at the Kuchingoro IDP camp. The Angel Relief Fund is also soliciting support for the 1,900 displaced children at the International Christian Center Camp (ICC), located in Benin City. Nikki Laoye [...]

Letters To Tomi: The Dilemma

by Yada MagazineMay 20, 2015

My dearest Tomi,

I hope you’ve been great. Been a while since I last saw you. Your replies have been very heart warming. You certainly are right, relationships are definitely overrated and the virtue of patience, down played. I think most of it stems from the false romantic fairy tales Hollywood keeps selling to us. The situation is further compounded as people emotionally launch out prematurely. I believe a degree of emotional independence (among other things) has to be achieved before one should venture into such commitment. Albeit, we are all learning to live.

In your last letter, you detailed a rather unfortunate occurrence that got you disappointed and angry. A very heart-wrenching news. It made rounds on the internet and his actions were absolutely inexcusable. To think that he would blatantly stand in front of his congregation and say it was none of their business was just out rightly irresponsible. Silence of his infidelity would have been preferred or golden even. This pastor’s extra-marital affair is saddening.

However, here’s what I need you to consider, you shouldn’t be discouraged about this mishap, because Jesus gave you salvation not the pastor. We learn from them, we submit to them, we acknowledge and honour them, but just as Paul told the people of Lystra, when they tried to exalt him as a god, they are men of ‘like passions’. Meaning, they are plagued with the very [...]
